So, it’s been nearly two weeks since I moved into the most beautiful, healing workspace.  After four and a half years I decided it was time for a change of environment.  Much has changed in my life generally in that time and it seemed perfect to start another chapter in a fresh, new space.

It’s been a bit of a ride getting here.  My original plan fell through, literally at the last minute – cards were printed, clients booked in, excitement all round – but it wasn’t meant to be.  And that’s ok.  (I’m sleeping now!)

After Plan B fell through I went to Plan C – I found my own premises … two rooms, a kitchenette and reception in the same building as Plan B.  The benefits of the building are many but the main one is that there is disabled parking and a lift to my room.  Where I worked before had two sets of seven steps, which meant that I had to rent another room somewhere else to see the people who literally couldn’t make it up the stairs.  And that situation was never smooth-running either.

The only problem with Plan C is that there are already tenants in there and I can’t get the keys till 1st August.  So two months in limbo (I had handed in my notice to go to Plan A so I really needed somewhere to practice).

What to do in the meantime?

Enter Plan D.  Which really should have been Plan A all along, but hey, sometimes you need to go through a process to get to where you need to be.

In January, my beautiful friend Angela started up her own place in “the building”.  She had offered me the second room right from the start but I hesitated, wondering how it would affect our friendship (I’m a bit of a worrier at the best of times).  Well, I decided to see if her offer was still open, at least for the two months while I waited and she had no hesitation.

I quickly went online and ordered me one of those fancy electric tables (in my last workplace the table was provided and I only had an old portable table at home and I wasn’t sure how sturdy it was after all that time in storage).  And a stool.  And some table covers.  And some oil.  And, and, and.

Two Saturdays ago I finished work at 3pm, packed up and moved over into my new room.  My daughter came on Sunday and helped me finish off and she took loads of photos.  Here are some of them …

Early reports coming though say that it is a very calm, restful space.  The new electric table has passed the test for a comfortable face hole and a nice wide body.  The work station has proved efficient for receipts and bookings.  There were a couple of comments early on about the lack of a mirror for post treatment fixing up but that has now been remedied.

One of the most exciting things about the move is that I get to spend more time with my best mate.  How lucky am I?
